Mechanically, the Discovery shares its core with the bikes that have earned the DesertX name its reputation. It uses the same 937cc Testastretta 11° engine, producing 110 hp at 9,250 rpm and 68 lb.-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. This motor has proven reliable across thousands of miles in all kinds of conditions.

The capable chassis carries over, as does the generous 5.5-gallon fuel tank for long range. You can easily cover 200 miles or more between fill-ups. The seat height sits at 34.4 inches, which is the same as the base model. You can lower or raise it with accessory parts if needed.

Riders will appreciate the updated tech, including turn-by-turn navigation displayed directly on the 5-inch TFT dash through the Ducati Link app. This keeps your eyes where they belong on the road ahead. The system pairs with your phone and shows arrows right on the screen.

The Discovery also keeps the five riding modes from the DesertX family. Three modes focus on road riding while two are built specifically for off-road use. These modes change how the power delivers and how the traction control behaves.

How It Compares in the DesertX Family

The base DesertX starts at $17,995 and gives you a solid platform to build on. Many riders like this route because they can pick their own upgrades with aftermarket parts.

The Discovery comes in at $19,995. For that extra $2,000, you get all the comfort and protection items listed above already installed. This is a good deal if you planned to add these things anyway. The heated grips alone are a popular add-on, and the centerstand and skid plate would cost you time and money to install later.

At the top sits the DesertX Rally at $22,995. That model adds longer travel suspension, a steering damper, and other parts for serious off-road riding.
